Soccer Camp

SCCS Soccer Camp has been going on for over 8 years! It is a one week soccer camp that takes place during the summer. It started out with the Major League Soccer players coming to Pescadero to coach the youth for a week. SCCS would pay the coaches. After a few years of doing this, we learned that Pescadero youth could take this on themselves.

Today, they are “Teen Coaches” and work together for a week to coach the younger youth in different soccer skills and techniques. The teen coaches participate in a training with Joe Harrington, a wonderful volunteer. By doing this, the teen coaches learn about leadership, communication, and they build up thier confidence – all while having fun! The younger youth who are learning soccer skills gain a lot of knowledge from the teens and they look up to the teens as role models. Community connection is an important aspect to our Soccer Camp. Not only do the younger youth form strong relationships with the teenagers, but we also have volunteers from the community that form relationships with the participants and the teen coaches.
