History

The Pescadero Thrift Shop opened and became a reliable source of income for SCCS in 1988. On January 11, 1995, the Thrift Shop was completely destroyed by fire. For the next 18 months, donations were stored in two large metal containers in the Pescadero High School parking lot and periodic rummage sales were held. In May 1996 the Thrift Shop reopened at a new location on Stage Road in Pescadero. In April of 1997, the Thrift Shop and SCCS administrative office moved to the present location on Pescadero Road.

Today, the Thrift Shop has not only made SCCS self-sustaining for administrative costs, it also produces a generous surplus each year which goes to support youth programs. The SCCS Thrift Shop generates over $100,000 per year, provides quality local youth employment opportunities, and low cost clothing and household goods that are conveniently available to South Coast residents.

Donation Policy
Donations of clean, useful items, that are in new or nearly new condition are greatly appreciated. It is costly and time consuming for us to sort and dispose of old, dirty, or broken items that have little or no resale value. Donating these items takes money away from the children. Donations are accepted only during hours of operation.  Please do not leave donations at any other time.
