Our Mission
South Coast Children’s Services’ mission is to create educational, recreational and cultural opportunities for youth of the rural South Coast of San Mateo County.
We believe in focusing on young people’s strengths, creating programs with youth instead of for youth, and involving them in every level of the governance, management and operation of the SCCS organization.

Our Core Values

Confidence and Personal Growth
At SCCS, self confidence and personal growth are developed through gaining new skills and life experience. They are also supported by the general atmosphere of SCCS programs created by small groups and a high level of respect for individuals of all ages.
Community Connection
SCCS provides and supports community connection though volunteer opportunities, employment in the Thrift Shop and providing a variety of after school, weekend, and summer activities where participants can make new friends and spend time with old ones.
Leadership
Its small size coupled with its diversity of activities makes it uniquely suited to provide opportunities for youth to acquire leadership experience and practice leadership skills. Youth are involved in every level of the governance, administration and operations of SCCS including developing and implementing their own program ideas.
Fun!
Fun – the simple joy of living and sharing – is an integral part of all SCCS activities. SCCS gives kids the chance to create their own opportunities for exploration and personal development…and they have a lot of fun doing it.
